Roots in the History of Jokioinen Manor

The roots of Jokioinen Wire Factory Ltd go back to the year 1804, when Gustaf von Willebrand, the then-owner of the Jokioinen manors, established a wrought iron forge on the banks of the Loimijoki River.

The history of the municipality of Jokioinen is closely intertwined with the phases of the factory and the manors. The Seppäinmäki residential area in Jokioinen was formerly a housing area maintained by the factory for its workers and officials. In the area, along Humppilantie, there is also the old factory director’s house and the payroll office.

At the end of the 19th century, the Jokioinen factories were connected to the national railway network by a narrow-gauge railway that reached the factory yard and continued from Jokioinen to the Finlayson factories in Forssa. Through this railway, hot-rolled wires, needed as raw materials, were brought to the factory. The railway had great importance during the war years.

Ferraria Oy manufactured all the barbed wire required by the army, and the Forssa factories produced all the fabric needed by the army. The factory generated its own electricity with a hydroelectric plant built in 1924.

Over the course of time, the factory has been owned by, among others, Oy Ferraria Ab, Oy Fiskars Ab, Ovako Steel, Gunnebo Industrier, Ofa Oy Ab, and Kaarjoki Oy.

Our production facility was built in the 1940s, and the building we use as a warehouse dates back to the early 20th century.
